琳派墨絵クラブへようこそ／Welcome to RIMPA SUMIE CLUB

琳派墨絵クラブでは、皆さんとともに日本の水墨画と、そして古典的な筆法による日本画を、

共に学び分かち合う目的で創立しました。

当クラブは、雨華庵6世でいらした故酒井抱道先生に学んだところの、江戸琳派の祖、酒井抱一家に代々受け継がれてきた古典絵画を継承する場であり、

その付立（つけたて）に重心をおいた琳派の墨絵には日本文化ならではの奥深さがあります。

これから伝統文化に携わる者としては、道具も含めて、未来の文化における伝統文化の存続ということも、

よくよく念頭において活動していかなければならない時代だと考えています。

海外からの留学生やお子様にも、より身近に墨絵が届くように活動しているのも当クラブの志です。

RIMPA SUMIE CLUB was established to be an opportunity to learn and share SUMIE which origins in Japan and Japanese traditional painting art in classic techniques and methods of painting.

RIMPA SUMIE CLUB is the place to inherit traditional painting art method which had been running in Hoitsu Sakai's family,who established Edo-Rimpa during the Edo period,and passed down from Mr.Hodo Sakai who was 6th generation of Sakai family.

Rimpa SUMIE is the art method which put importance in "tsuketate" brush strokes has profoundness and intellectual depth you would feel once you had this experience.

Now is the age for who is engaged in traditional culture must has concerns about sustaining it, including traditional industry in future. So, this club is positive to hold workshop programs for the foreign exchange students and children.

日本文化は、長い年月をかけてアジア広域から文化を摂取し、集積したものだと表現されております。

時に、その様々な国の文化を丁寧に保存しており、また別の面では全く日本独自のものに変えながら取り入れております。

墨絵(水墨画)もまたその一つであり、13世紀頃に中国から日本へと伝来しました。今から約700年前の事です。

当時広まった禅宗の僧侶や絵師は墨絵を取り入れ、そこから墨絵は日本文化に根付いてまいりました。

我々にとって、この歴史的な遺産である墨絵は、いま世界に向かって花開かれたものになろうとしております。

墨絵のような深い哲学を備えた絵画により、また広い範囲の人々と深く交流する事ができます。

このように墨絵とは、私達の先祖が未来の我々に遺してくれたものではないでしょうか。

しかしながら、現在の伝統文化産業は厳しい状況にあると言えます。伝統的な絵画に必要とされる道具としての、

「和紙」、「絵絹」、「筆」などは、専門画家および愛好家の減少と、「床の間」などがない現代の住宅の需要の変化などにより、

生産の継続が困難になりつつあるのです。最終的に、道具がなければ絵は描けませんし、実践者を失えば文化そのものも衰退してしまう事でしょう。

ところで、墨絵の愛好者は本当に減少したのでしょうか？若い世代の方や海外からお越しの方々に向けて、

「墨絵のご紹介」といたしましてわたくしが授業をさせて頂いた時には、あまりの熱心さとその反応の強さにおどろかされました。

そして、こんなご感想をいただいたのです。---墨絵というものが、このように誰でも習えるものだと思いもしなかった。

そして、ご参加者された皆様からは、墨絵を習うという大変に幸運な機会をもらえたと喜んで頂きました。

より多くの方が墨絵の本当の深い所を知るようになり、そしてこれを世界中で共有して下さるようになれば、と願っております。

墨絵が国際的に羽ばたくその扉は、今は開かれております。そして、わたくしも真剣にお伝えすることで、魅力を知って頂きたいという思いで活動しております。

わたくしの活動のすべては将来の文化が輝く様であるためです。

Japanese culture has been described as an accumulation from a wide range of Asian communities throughout the ages. Sometimes it is preserved carefully, at other times it is finely tuned. Sumie (or Suiboku-ga, a black-and-white drawing, ink drawing) was introduced from China around the 13^th century. Zen Buddhism being prevalent at the time, Sumie was produced by monks and introduced to the Japanese public. It has come time to export our cultural heritage, and to communicate it such that it contains enough form that it does not go into obscurity.

At present,traditional Japanese culture is at a crossroads.Industrial tradition is in decline.Products such as Washi (a traditional rice paper), silk, brushes and other objects related to painting are less available due to a drop in demand in our modern times, as well as a dwindling number of Sumie practitioners. The end result is that fewer people are continuing the tradition. As the means of production have become less accessible, the continuation of this traditional art form is under threat.

Has interest in Sumie truly declined? When I declared my interest in providing Sumie instruction to the young, and for foreign visitors, I was surprised at how much interest was shown. Some had never consider it something to be learned, or that classed were available for anyone to join. During my previous Sumie workshop, my students agreed that the class was a great opportunity. I hope that more people will get a deeper knowledge of Sumie. The door is open now for this knowledge to be shared. Since I have initiated serious Sumie instruction, not a simple Japanese "souvenir" , I hope that I can convey to you the genuine aspects of Sumie.

As more painters become skilled in the art of Sumie, this art, passed on by our ancestors ans gifted to us, can have a bright future. -Tomoko Sase
